Creatine Well Tolerated and Safe

You may have heard about creatine monohydrate as a popular body-building supplement, but might have also been under the impression that it could be harmful.  A new study has shown that creatine is not only safe and well tolerated, it was helpful in preventatively slowing the progression of Huntington disease.  The reason it helps is that creatine supports the production of ATP, the main energy source of cells.  In the case of Huntington disease, and also diseases such as ALS and Parkinson's, providing this form of cellular energy has a protective effect on the brain cells.  Creatine also increases ATP in muscle cells, making it potentially useful for those with fibromyalgia.
