Non Conventional Ideas About Health

I've been reading Dr. Ray Peat's newsletter for over 15 years, and I've found it to be one of the most refreshingly objective sources of nutrition information I've ever come across.  Dr. Peat holds a PhD in Biology with a specialization in Physiology from the University of Oregon, and his focus is educating the public about how to support cell health/cell respiration at the most basic level mostly through diet.  The main things he suggests avoiding are polyunsaturated oils (such as corn oil, soybean oil, canola oil), soy products, and starchy foods (such as wheat), and emphasizing in the diet quality protein and fruit.  That is a bit of an oversimplification, but it gives you a very basic idea.  You can check out more at his website, which is, and there are several other websites that relate to the application of his ideas, and those include,,, and, among others.  Dr. Peat has a growing following of lay people and health professionals.
