Alzheimer's and Cytomegalovirus

Cytomegalovirus (CMV), a member of the herpes simplex family, is another extremely common virus.  In fact, 50-80% of Americans have the virus by the time they turn 40 years old.  The virus is also often found with Epstein Barr Virus (EBV) and other members of the herpes family.  An article that was just published in the Huffington Post discusses a study which suggests cytomegalovirus may contribute to the development of Alzheimer's disease.  The link is not definitive, but it appears that more research is suggesting that there is a link.  Just like any other infection, the key to whether it causes problems is the status of the immune system.  You can read the article in Huffington Post by clicking here:
