Cadmium exposure has been shown to have a negative impact on liver function:
Remember that cadmium is found in common things such as food (because of use in farming fertilizers), cigarette smoke, lipstick, dyes and pigments, water, and more. Heavy metals, including cadmium, are somewhat difficult to test/quantify, due to the fact that they are in the tissues and not necessarily the blood. More sensitive methods to look for chronic heavy metals can include testing urine, hair, and even stool.
Also remember that metals don't have to be at levels considered "poisoning" in order to cause symptoms.
